How do I consult an advocate through Legal Space Services?

Open the profile of the advocate whose practice area matches your matter and send a consultation request. Our coordination desk calls you the same day, confirms the correct practice area for your facts, and fixes a time. The advocate states their own fee to you on that call — it is not published here. Nothing is charged when you send the request.

What does a consultation cost?

Professional fees are not published on this website. Bar Council of India Rules do not permit an advocate's fee to be advertised, compared or discounted online, so the advocate tells you their fee directly on the first call, before anything is fixed. Sending a request costs nothing, Legal Space Services does not collect the advocate's fee and takes no share of it, and no advocate pays Legal Space Services anything.

Are these advocates employees of Legal Space Services?

No. They are independent advocates enrolled with a State Bar Council who are associated with us. Legal Space Services handles the coordination, documentation and follow-up; the legal opinion and any court appearance come from the advocate. We state clearly which part of your matter is being handled by whom.

Can I consult an advocate if I am outside Delhi?

Yes. Consultations are held over phone or video, so clients from any state of India and non-resident Indians abroad can consult. Where physical appearance in a Delhi court is required, the associated advocate appears on your behalf.

How is an advocate added to this network?

An advocate applies through the join page with their enrolment number and Bar Council details. Our team verifies the enrolment before the profile is approved. Only approved profiles appear on this website.

Why are the advocates here not ranked, rated or reviewed?

Because the Bar Council of India’s rules do not allow advocates to advertise or solicit work, directly or indirectly. A directory that ranked advocates, showed star ratings or promoted some over others would become a form of advertising. This page is a factual directory: it lists who an advocate is, where they are enrolled, where they practise and what areas they work in, and leaves the choice to you.

How can I check that an advocate is actually enrolled?

Every advocate is enrolled on the roll of a State Bar Council and has an enrolment number. You can ask for it, and most State Bar Councils let you verify it. Profiles on this directory show the enrolment details we verified when the advocate joined. Our guide on lawyers and advocates explains what enrolment means.

How do I choose the right advocate for my matter?

Start with the practice area and the court where your case is or will be, because an advocate who regularly appears in that court and that kind of case will know its practice. What should I bring to my first meeting with an advocate?

A short written timeline of what happened, copies of every notice, order, FIR, agreement or letter you have, and a list of the questions you want answered. Our guide to the first meeting with a lawyer explains how to prepare so that the time is used well.

Is what I tell an advocate confidential?

Yes. Communications between a client and an advocate made in the course of the advocate’s professional engagement are protected by law, and the advocate may not disclose them without the client’s consent, subject to narrow exceptions such as communications made to further an illegal purpose. Advocates are also bound by professional duties of confidence.

Can I change my advocate during a case?

Yes. A client is free to change advocates. The usual practice is to settle the outgoing advocate’s dues, obtain a no-objection or have the earlier appearance withdrawn, and file a fresh authority for the new advocate. The new advocate will need the full case file, so ask for it in good time.

Do I actually need an advocate?

Not always. Many documents, registrations and applications do not need one, and some disputes are better settled by a notice and a conversation. Court cases, criminal matters and contested family disputes almost always do. Our guide on whether you need a lawyer helps you decide.
