Declarations and Undertaking for Advocates

This page sets out, in full, what an advocate confirms when applying to be listed in the advocate directory on this website. On the application form these appear as three tick boxes; the complete text of each one is below, followed by the undertaking that goes with them. All three must be ticked — the form does not go through otherwise, and the server checks again before anything is saved.

These twelve points go with the three declarations above and are accepted at the same time.

1. Nothing here is an advertisement. The listing is a factual directory entry made at my own request. It carries only the particulars permitted by Rule 36 of the Bar Council of India Rules and the Schedule to Council Resolution No. 50/2008 — name, address, telephone and email, enrolment number, date of enrolment, State Bar Council, Bar Association, qualifications and areas of practice. It carries no rating, no ranking, no testimonial, no claim of success and no comparison with any other advocate, and I will not ask for any such thing to be added.
2. My fee is not published. I accept that no professional fee of mine — consultation or case — will be displayed, compared, discounted or offered as a package on this website.
3. No sharing of remuneration. I am aware of Rule 2, Section II, Chapter II, Part VI of the Bar Council of India Rules and of Section 36 of the Legal Practitioners Act, 1879, and I confirm that no remuneration of mine moves to Legal Space Services and none of its money moves to me, in any form, directly or indirectly, now or later.
4. The engagement is mine. Where a client engages me, the advocate–client relationship, the duty of confidence, the professional advice, the appearance, the conduct of the matter and the result are entirely between that client and me. Legal Space Services is a documentation and filing company, does not practise law, gives no legal advice and is not a party to my engagement.
5. Conflicts and competence are mine to check. I will run my own conflict check before accepting any matter, will accept only matters I am competent to handle, and will comply with the Advocates Act, 1961, the Bar Council of India Rules and the standards of professional conduct in everything I do.
6. Indemnity. I will keep Legal Space Services, its directors and its staff indemnified against any claim, demand, proceeding, penalty, cost or loss that arises out of my own act, omission, advice, negligence, delay, professional misconduct, breach of these declarations or any particular I have given that turns out to be untrue.
7. No use of the company's name. I will not describe myself as an employee, partner, agent, franchisee or panel counsel of Legal Space Services, and I will not use its name, logo or website in my own advertising, letterhead, visiting card or social media.
8. Confidentiality. Anything I learn about a client through this association stays confidential, and I will use it only for that client's matter.
9. Listing at the company's discretion. Legal Space Services may correct, edit, suspend or remove my profile at any time without giving a reason, and no claim of any kind arises to me from that. Equally, I may have it removed at any time by writing or calling.
10. No guarantee of work. I understand that nothing here promises me any client, enquiry, consultation or volume of work, and that no such promise has been made to me.
11. Taxes are mine. Any tax, cess or statutory levy on my own fee is my responsibility.
12. Governing law. These declarations are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Delhi have jurisdiction, without prejudice to the exclusive disciplinary jurisdiction of the Bar Council over an advocate.

When you tick the three boxes and submit the form, we record the date and time, the IP address from which the form was sent, and the version of this page in force at that moment — currently ADV-DECL-2026-09-1.0. That record is kept for as long as your profile exists, so that both of us can always show what was agreed and when.

If this page is changed later, the change applies to applications made after it. Your own record keeps pointing at the version you accepted. If a change affects advocates already listed, we will say so and ask again rather than assume.
